I would assume

that those beasts were acting under their own evil motives and not because they were being instructed by the word of God.

Child abusers lurk where they can most easily gain the trust of their victims whether it is in a London Catholic school, a nursery school in Plymouth or a children's home in Jersey it's not exclusive to Christianity.
