and in football, compensation is paid when clubs nick another club's manager. And if all it took was for the manager to say "I resigned first", then that wouldn't ever happen.

So it clearly doesn't work as a defence. Hence why Colchester are taking us to the League - they think they'll be awarded more money than we're offering.
