That northern part of the city

is fine; quite refined but a little bit dull... but its only about 5-10mins walk to the main square, and only about 15-20 mins to Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter, which is not to me missed under any circumstances! But I'm sure that'd be fine where you are. Plus the trams are cheap.
