Your computer needs wifi hardware built-in, or you can get a PCMIA card to plug in. Then you need a wireless router in your home (and most ISPs offer this these days). Many places have free WiFi access points - hotels, airports, cafes, libraries, trains, etc. If you do go wireless at home though make sure you secure the connection otherwise your neighbours might piggyback on your connection.
