...and in local news

A TOWN mayor has played down claims that Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane's dogs have created a noise nuisance - saying he wasn't aware of any concerns.

A story printed in a national tabloid newspaper on Saturday claimed Keane's neighbours in the upmarket coastal town of Aldeburgh had complained of being kept up in the night because of the ?constant noise?.

The article suggested an official complaint had been made against the Blues manager, currently struggling to steer his side their first league win of the season.

But a close neighbour and Aldeburgh's mayor both said yesterday they had experienced no problems or heard of any complaints about Keane's two dogs - a golden Labrador called Triggs and a German Shepherd called Izac.

Neighbour Tony Bone, chairman of the Aldeburgh Society, told the EADT he had not been aware of any issues.

And Kevin Webster, Mayor of Aldeburgh, said this was the first he had heard of any complaints about Keane.

He said: ?I have not heard of any problems whatsoever.

?The town council has not received any complaints so the only thing I can think is a complaint may have been made to Suffolk Coastal.

?I think it has been blown out of proportion, we are not aware of any problems.?

Suffolk Coastal District Council could not be contacted over the weekend to establish whether or not an official complaint had been made.

A spokesman for Ipswich Town FC said they had no comment to make.
