I certainly agree the seeded teams are very probably better

that is why they should be at the World Cup unless someone proves they are more worthy by beating them (i.e. Ireland beating France).
Ireland have done f*** all so far to deserve to be there except come second in a sh*t group. I saw an Irish fan post on a message board the other day that they hadn't beaten a top team in a competitive game since bearting the Dutch in 2001. The onus is on them to prove they belong at the World Cup by actually doing something worthwhile. Like beating France (I hope they do!).
Seedings aren't determined unfairly or randomly - the seeded teams have earned it through performances on the pitch. If Ireland had actually achieved what the seeded teams had then THEY would have been seeded so I don't see how they are being remotely hard done by.
