possibly

the only problem with sky, is their backhaul services. i.e the optic fibre link from the exchange back to the service provider has a low bandwidth. ok when noone is on the net, s**te when everyone is wrathing.

your phone line has a route from the exchange, or a pair of wires which goes through different cables to get to you address. it maybe that there could 2 or more routes to your close, and your line is on a s**ttier cable, with aluminium conductors. you need someone to 'move you onto another route' something an openreach engineer could do if you report a fault with your service provider.

i nwould do it for you myself but if i'm correct you live in cambridge, which is a bit far.

my 4meg broadband has now squeezed down to 2 meg
