My positives

Keeper is a big old boy and that's good - although I always get a bit nervy about punching keepers rather than catching ones.

Askou is getting better and better - he never looks to flap even when he's made a mistake.

Hughes has flair and is probably the best of the recent signings, but obviously the injury has flipped that up. Alongside him Smith looks effective but that's bejiggered when he doesn't have that presence as last night showed.

Holt's great but needs a cureton or a cody to knock the ball down to. There was one moment last night which reminded me of the famous Dean Ashton on the wing, Green in the box move when he was just stranded on the right.

Not really sure how Daley has come back into the reckoning - I can only think it's to do with the pace thing that Lambert is looking for.

I am optimistic that Adeyemi and Smith will do the business but I fear that too much is on them at the moment.

Lappin has looked good recently but last night he seemed to be all over the shop - I think part of the problem was that when he dropped to left back with Martin in front, MArtin seemed to expect him to be moving forward and his pace isn't there to do those overlaps.

MArtin tries hard but I'm still not sure he's any better than he was when he first broke through. And is a liability when he goes back to defend - before the pnalty incident he'd passed the ball into our own area - we're sure culverhouse actually told him afterwards that we'd changed ends.

McVeigh occasionally puts a beautiful ball in (did so a couple of times last night) but was in as wrong a place for him as it was possible to be. I've been pleasantly surprised by him but last night was very disappointing.
