FAO: Know alls; parental advice required

Tombs Jr the eldest is primed and ready to deploy on OPERATION UNIVERSITY.

GROUND: (General) Sorted, Kingston upon Thames. (Detailed) Reccy carried out and place of residence booked, looks fine.
SITUATION: H hour -5 days, concern and confusion apparent in both parents regarding financial backing
MISSION: To support son financially through university but not to hand everything on a plate in order that he becomes independent.
EXECUTION: Come up with detailed plan and deliver by 5pm this evening. No deviation.
ADMIN/LOGISTICS: Myself and 2 i/c will drive son to line of departure saturday a.m. probably stop for grub en-route to target.
COMMAND & SIGNALS: Supreme Commander to control movements of son in and out of university at all times. Mobile phones to be used.

Thing is, I can plan all this s**t ^^^blindfolded but, BUT .....

Where do I draw the line financially? Should I pay for everything and allow him to embark on life after he completes Uni free and un-encumbered by debt? Or, should I just pay for Tuition or Acccom or both? or; nothing and let him get into and out of debt thereby learning to fly solo in life? Any ideas/tips/life experiences shared will be greatfully appreciated.
