FAO Tombs re. Floors
Laminate = cheap ?6p/sqm crap from B&Q
Real Wood generally= 2-3mm of Oak (or something expensive) laminated on top of some cheapish soft wood. costs usually from ?20-?50 p/sqm
Solid Wood = exactly what it says on the tin, costs a f***in bomb.
Sounds like you've been done @?60 p/sqm for a "real wood" floor, but it's worth considering the size of the boards, a lot of the time these floors come in really quite short sections (1-2ft, much cheaper to produce), while the high-quality "real-wood" will come in 2m lengths.
Did our whole house out in "real wood" while renovating last year and it's f***ing brilliant, looks fantastic, but ours is a swedish brand (Khars) in 2m lengths, which we managed to find locally for ?25 p/sqm, cheapest I could find it online was ?35.
hope this helps a bit.
