Me and Twiddly Phillips flew Brisfits and Sopwith Camels throughout 1917 to bring down the
Zeppelin Staaken used in the bombing of London. On one mission, flying out of Bicester, me and Twiddly were over the channel when we came up against early incarnations of the Fokker D.VII's. Twiddly's Brisfit took a strafing right through the fuselage - he was cut up pretty bad. We managed to land at Biggin Hill and as we pulled him out, his cock fell from the sky and landed in Fatty Patterson's bowl of peach halves and condensed milk.
