Gunn's squad of players? . . .

I'm not sure how signings work and am pretty sure that it differs a bit from club to club but I presume that Gunn was not given free reign to sign whoever he wanted over the summer.

The backroom staff will obviously have a big impact on the new signings and so the team is not really "Bryan Gunn's team".

His sacking would be stranger if he had had the ultimate say in which players to bring in.

Would I be right to suggest that the board probably kept an extra careful eye on new signings with an eye on having a decent team for a new manager?
