the beat time triallists are often prettybig and powerful - but those guys can struggle when they hit the mountains. The best climbers are usually skinnier and lighter.

It's not just that though. Time trialling as also about getting into a rhythm, knowing how to find the perfect pace that you can keep steady for an entire stage. You don't have to have that skill so much to win mountain stages really.

(Note, by the way, that Contador, who's won this race in the mountains, also came second in the first time trial, and he'll probably do well in this one.)
