If they aren't good enough, then why hold onto this "Academy" status?

We've still got the facilities to tempt any young player-if we left that system, we could, once again, comb all of the UK for decent youngsters and get a decent scouting network up and running throughout the country.

As I see it, the drawback to that includes not having the fixtures against top level sides, but plenty of clubs do without academy status and have no problem getting a good youth side and prospects together.

I know its probably not an option but if we're chucking hundreds of thousands of pounds at the Academy and the goods are not being realised, then you have to question it, if anything, because of the ridiculous ruling over the geographical influence it can have-lots of players out in the North Sea after all-yet look at Crewe, no wonder they have a great system, look at the area they have to call upon.
