he's a sprinter. So if all the riders finish together, and so have a sprint finish, he wins. Almost every time.
That's a really big deal - winning a single stage is a big achievement, never mind 4. Two years running. That's incredible.

But when he wins a stage, he only finishes a few yards ahead of everyone else. Whereas on the mountain stages, he loses minutes and minutes. So he's nowhere near the overall lead.
