Raith Rover 0 - 1 Norwich City

It's going to be a tough season. Worst last night, by far, were the strikers. Maric looked strong, his feet were OK, but can't jump and didn't look like scoring. I wonder if he has a sex tape. I suspect we could pick up a similar player at Eaton Park, perhaps we did. Cureton was having cow's arse/banjo problems. For subs, Bridges was anonymous and Cody the only forward who look lively. He needs two or three mates by this time next month. We're not looking like scoring and that's going to cost us down in the depths.

Further back Steer (who the hell is he? I must have been working when we signed him) looked good positionally. The centre backs looked solid individually, if a bit dodgy with the ball at their feet, but let's say their partnership hasn't gelled yet. Spillane was OK, but no better, at RB. Drury looked the best player in the team last night as a non-attacking LB. Assured, that's the word I'm looking for.

In the middle Gunny has decided to negate Semi's defensive limitations by playing him as a left winger where he cause problems with some tricky runs, but then ruined it by his inability to cross. Pattison showed endeavor and commitment, combined with the direction and purpose of a drunk. I didn't notice Gill -- hopefully because he was putting in an effective performance of quiet dominance. Tudor Jones shouted a lot and looked alright. Paul McSmall came off the bench appearing almost completely spherical and proceeded to pass the ball well and (I think) score the winning goal. Adeyami came on late and didn't do much other than look athletic.

We won against a team who looked ready for their season to start, but I hope we're better come the kick off of ours.
