My grandad

who only started showing real signs of demantia this time last year was moved about a few homes in North London until my parents just moved him to one in Bury St Edmunds where my nana also recides with demantia at the end of last year. I saw him over Christmas time and he was so unhappy and not even recognisable really, he had a couple of other physical problems as well and sadly died in January. Although it was upsetting there was also a massive sense of relief that he has been put out of suffering. He could barely do anything for himself - this all happened to him so quickly as well - if that was me then I'd just want to be dead.

My nana is a right old trooper though and despite being one of the oldest in the home is the only one who can walk by herself and is really sociable apparently...she always has been so I'm guessing she just really wants to carry on living.
