Spent a fair amount of time in one of those in the last few months.

I wish the level of care received by my father was as good as described there, but it wasn't. Thankfully, Norwich Social Services and Occupational Health moved heaven and earth to modify the house, at no cost to the family, so that it was suitable for him to come home - he's been home a fortnight now, and is a completely different man to the angry, confused, frail old man we left at the home every day. Well, he's still frail, but when I look into his eyes, Dad is in there looking out again, and he hadn't been there for a while. I thought he wasn't coming back.

That place sounds sad, sobering, depressing. You should try visiting one that specialises in dementia cases. 100% of the residents at the place that father was in had a form of dementia. I can't adequately express how much worse it was than that place sounds.
