I ripped all 3 shoulder joints when I was 20 meggers, never been the same since

Mainly because the shoulder has so many movements, instead of say, your ankle or knee which is a mechanical, mainly one movement joints and bones

Any damage to the shoulder and it probably won't feel the same again

When I swam after that, I never trained with any aggression again, I just focussed on technique, and doing the distance over any power

Then once every two weeks I'd thrash it out in a race environment (and spend the next few days feeling it, but would come back round to the light training)

I guess the only advice is to try and bulk up the muscles around it without hurting it
