Macnerd help required purlease

how the ottoson foxtrotting ding dang doo do i set up my email on a macbook as it is asking for:

"account type" (choice of POP/IMAP or Exchange???and then "description" ????

I've tried the obvious; "an email account" but that dunt seem to work (even with a swear word added in for emphasis).

and WTF is "incoming mail server" when it's at home in it's velvet smoking jacket?

any sensible replies gratefully accepted, any gratuitously offensive replies will be forwarded to the khazi
