MP's salaries are a tricky issue. You don't want it to be a role that attracts people for

salary alone, ideally you want people to enter politics from a desire to do good.
Yes, i know that's a slightly sugary view, and unlikely to be realistic in a number of cases.

YOu also want to make sure that there is enough of a financial incentive to attract some real talent to it, and keep them out of the private sector.

When you think about the decisions these people make, its rather silly that a private sector CEO can earn 4 or 5 times as much as someone involved in setting out law, and running a nations economy.
