JR does have a point though.

The guy referee's a low quality of football week in week out there is no debate about that. He's not saying he shouldn't have been ref because he is Norweigen. If he'd been Norweigen and spent the last couple of years refereeing in a top league and shown he was good at that level he would have been suitable.

UEFA should have used the best man for the job. That would likely be the best ref in Italy or Germany. Not because they are German or Italian but because the level of football he would be refereeing would be at a similar level to that of last night.

Having said that the whole point argument becomes null and void simply because the mistakes he made last night you wouldn't expect from a Sunday League ref.

Had to laugh at Drogba and Ballak though, if I were a Chelsea fan I'd be seething at the ref last night but my overwhelming feeling would be of embaressment at the behaviour of members of my team.
