Was the hand in an unnatural position? No, he's running across its where you'd expect it to be.
Did the ball take an unexpected path? Yep. Can't say anyone expected Anelka to flick the ball in the direction.

Could he have got out of the way? Maybe.
Did he move the hand too the ball? Not really.

When the player is that close, its very hard to give handball when the hand hasn't clearly moved towards the ball.
I can see why he didn't give that, he has to be sure.

However, I'm not going to pretend i wouldn't be screaming murder if that had been a decision against us!
