I still maintain a lot of the rot is set in from the moment they bought the club
We barely ever land a target, unless it's within the board's budget, not the managers
We've spent since 2002 being linked with Ameobi
We spent well over a season mulling over the 1m Colchester wanted for lua lua, by, as usual, offering 800k
We did the very same thing with the Taylor transfer. Then, when things were really tight and Roeder needed to get a team together, we did exactly the same with Iversen. We offered them a price, they said it wasn't worth it, and we didn't budge any higher
Just like the Lua Lua thing, we go for the gamble, 1/3rd cheaper signing, so we got Abbey
The same thing happened when we wanted Healy, we got Notman
Our answer to not signing Crouch, was to get Leon and Svenny (good buys though)
Hey, when you can't get Jeff Whitley, get Jim, and if you can't have Hasselbaink, get his brother on trial, they're bound to be as good
A lot of the rot has been set in here from the start. The loanies of the last two seasons aren't altogether managers ideas, more to do with attitude at the top
