any hotmail geeks in town?

i have been searching through old emails and it appears the attachments on *really* old emails have evaporated. Is this :

a. me being thick and they still exist?

or

b. is this me being thick and they don't exist?

email in question is 5 feb 2005 and the attachment could be quite valuable. :(
