My point made, my point illustrated. Thing is, I could point you at prog rock bands that I liked, then, and in some cases even now, but it'd be wrong because the passage of time has added the indelible mark of Context and so doing so would make a false proof.

If that sounds like I'm trying to be clever, I'm not, I just can't think of any other way to put it. How about this: I have never understood the popularity of Elvis: a couple of songs, sure, brilliantly sung, but they bob on a sea of almost comic awfulness......*in my opinion*.

And yet Peel loved him. Of course, Peel was older than me, so he got the full force of seeing the guy in context. So I defer, though I'll never buy an album.
