Rightly or wrongly if you do volunteer work you may be perceived as a "do-gooder"

If you like Rugby people might perceive you as a beer swilling toff who likes getting their cock out and putting it in other peoples beer.

You get me? It's called ther horns effect. Where your prejudices and preferences put you off someone irrationally.

The opposite is called the halo effect.
