The one point that article makes is that there's real people on the end of the piss takes. Some are more sensitive to it than others. If you were face to face with someone who was clearly getting wound up, you'd back off unless you happen to be a real bastard. Sometimes it's a bit like the psychological experiment where one person was asked to increase the electric shock on an unseen victim although they could hear them screaming in pain.
