I don't deride them for signing Ashton when we did

I DO deride them for our whole attitude throughout that season. It stank. Hull are able to gamble because they're already 75% of the way towards safety: Bolton did similarly midway through 01/2, and it worked for them. I agree about our realistic natural level now, by the way: as I've said before, my expectations extend merely to challenging seriously for the play-offs every other year, finishing top 6 every 3 years, and a Cup run more often than once in a blue moon.

But the board are falling far short of this. Far short.
