Calculated gamble I suppose

Boards seem inclined to give a chance to these famous ex-players, and some of them do fairly well. At least they've spent their playing careers in the big leagues around big name players, big name managers and earning big money. Conference to Championship is a huge step up. Find me the last Conference manager to be given a job in the Championship. I'm not saying he'll necessarily do poorly, just that it is one hell of a gamble motivated in no small part by sentiment (which is stupid).
