after posting, I pondered a little on my "what you're brought up with", and would like to amend that a little.

See, my daughter loved Friends, and I used to watch it with her, so I picked up on her delight. I must've seen every episode, whether I wanted to or not.

I still wouldn't say I like it, although Courtney Cox was absolutely jaw-dropping at one time, but I did reach the conclusion that where it's a stand-alone episdoe it can be very funny - but most of the time each episode is building towards a Significant Plot Device ( a wedding, a baby etc) and ALL of those tended to be cloyingly bad.

So where I said "what you're brought up with" I probably meant "the things you're influenced by". Back in the 70s, my brother couldn't see why Python was funny, until he watched it with me once. If someone you like is delighted by soemthing, their enjoyment can be infectious.

Anyway - I'm bored with this subject now. Nob gags, anyone?
