because if it's Roeder's fault then it was them that appointed him. As far as Roeder is concerned I think given what he inherited: the total lack of quality, the absence of scouting, a non-producing academy, the lack of money I think it's more or less impossible to tell if he's doing a good job. I think he's done some very good things but also blundered - Huckerby, loaning out Cureton was fine - but to Barnsley??????? I find his treatment of Lappin inexplicable.
What worries me about the board is the continuance of policies that had proved disastrous under Chase. I don't know about now - but not that long ago a second tier on the Main Stand was still being planned. The wrangling with LSE over the Phase 2 land looks ridiculous now that we can't shift it. And thank God the planners nixed the Grocer's plans for Colney.
The hands off policy towards football mystifies me too. Granted the board may not feel qualified to question the judgement of a former left back when it comes to players - but if Alex Ferguson has to make a case for every player he signs why not the NCfC manager? And what qualification did Worthington have to manage an annual budget of ?10 million. Someone needs to grab this organisation by the scruff of the neck, the board won't do it, Grant talked big and didn't do it, Roeder looked like he was starting but then Adams and Bloodworth (who?) were allowed back in.
