If we could afford to sack him, who would we replace him with ?
I've seen the following suggestions, here are my thoughts.
Dion Dublin - Not an option, he left to be closer to home and is not ready to be a manager, plus we are not in a position to give someone their managerial debut.
Ian Crook - Why? What has he really achieved to suggest he would succeed here? Another thought is that I'm anti ex players to a certain extent as most of them were great when they were here and I wouldn't want to see that reputation tarnished, so I'm ruling out Malky and Iwan also.
Ian Dowie - No compensation, not a bad manager but hardly inspiring.
Alan Curbishley - Did a "good" job for years at Charlton with not much money, would be a "big" name to appease the crowds. No compensation again.
Paul Ince - Tough one, shown at a lower level that he can cut it, although his time was short he has showed at a higher level that he is not ready, so whilst he might keep us up - how do we move forward? No compensation again.
Steve Tilson - Not a bad shout, managed well at the lower level but would hardly bring the crowds to their feet.
Roy Keane - I highly doubt he would come here, but maybe not a bad shout, problem being that he had shed loads of money at Sunderland and whilst it initially worked out, the world then crumbled.
Anyone I missed?
