Lee Croft... Leroy Lita

Having read endless articles saying Croft will be open to discussions with other clubs after the new year does this not apply to Leroy aswell considering he will be out of contract at the same time??? So why are we fussing about paying 300k for a player on a free??? okay we would'nt be able to have him till next season but we could sign him on loan till then??? Or if not get someone else till he arrives or even just accept were not going to get promoted this year and rebuild elsewhere for next season.
