Half his wages from Jan to the end of the season would be about 300k. So that's about how much Reading get by sending him out on loan.
Reading don't want him so they would save the wages of about 600k and get 300k in a fee. So Reading would really get/save about ?1m. Plus they might get a sell-on clause and other bits and bobs based upon games played etc.
That's not bad for a player they don't want and can sign a pre-contract with another club.
