It shows two things.....

1) It's a signal to the market that you really want this guy
2) It's a signal to Lita that we really want him

Which acts as a disincentive to others to bid and as an motivator to Leroy to sign.

I'd say it was pretty clever if it gets him in on a permanent contract.
