DAB radios

I am considering buying a DAB radio for someone as a present.

What is the reception quality like e.g. in a downstairs kitchen?

Sainsburys have got one for ?30 in the sale.

We have a lot of houses in close proximity, and our tv reception isn't that great if we use a portable aerial downstairs, just wondering if that would affect it at all.
