Whether it's actually got any basis in reality or not, what they said was that it'd take ?56m to take control of the club and also put ?20m into the playing budget.
The ?56m came from the cost to purchase a controlling share plus the cost of repaying the loans (which have a clause about immediate repayment upon change on control) plus the ?20m the manager was going to get to spend on players.
But then there's a million "Yeah, buts" you can use to chisel off chunks of that ?56m - "Delia always said she'd give her shares away", "Cullum could renegotiate bank loans in his sleep" etc etc
