Good & consistent midfield playmakers are difficult to find and don't come cheap

We struck lucky with Crooky all those years ago. I think, at the moment, I'd be happy with a couple of midfielders who can tackle, hold the ball and pass it - doesn't have to play a defence splitting ball from deep inside his own half; just do the basic stuff competently - Safri certainly meets that description - jury appears to be out on Jarrett.

Trouble is, as you say, if you keep losing the ball, you need a tireless runner to chase it down again. It's a plaster on a failure elsewhere really.
