I don't like to post comments about the referee/linesmen when we lose at it looks like sour grapes.
HOWEVER I just wanted to say that I thought yesterdays ref was absolutely diabolical. Any physical contact resulted in a free kick and usually a booking. By booking Clingan early on he left himself no option other than to book a player for every physical tackle. Stefs tackle was debateable - the first contact was definitely outside the area, but if it was a foul and Stef was last man he should have gone (despite what Neil Adams said).
He wasn't helped by the traffic warden running the line in front of the Jarrold Stand who looked as if he was standing to attention when trying to get in line with the last man. He refused to look down the touch line so God knows how he was able to give so many decisions - at one point he was looking across the pitch when the ball went out of play and he had no idea which way to call it.
I could go on and on BUT the bottom line is that the FA have got to tell refs that they don't have to be the centre of attention to be recognised as a good ref. Let the game flow whenever possible as some international ref did on TV the other week (was it the England game?) Learn from rugby referees too.
Luckily we won but although we didn't play well the ref seriously disrupted any passage of play with constant whistling.
