To be fair, you're hardly the first to go through this

Anyone in London 10-20 years ago will remember the IRA bombings, etc. I've had a bomb go off in offices opposite where I worked, was 200 metres away when the mortars landed in the garden of number 10 and worked opposite Harrods when that bomb went off too.

I think many people are already aware or have experienced just this kind of situation, whether they now live in London or not.
