We were actually quite good from 2000-1 to 2004. And there was a bit of luck here and there (Mulryne's goal against Reading etc), but quality and teamwork outweighed that. All under the same manager, which would point to continuity being a factor.
But you have to go back to the loan player / new player situation. Replacing a whole team in a couple of months is bound to lead to problems, and they haven't dealt with it yet. Getting a good start is vital, and that clearly hasn't happened either.
I'm not sure what I'm suggesting, except that it's got to get better at some point. If not I'm emigrating.
