For england, Having Heskey is getting the best out of him.

For me England needed to make a choice between Owen and Rooney, as neither of them is right for the others game.

Having Heskey means Rooney isn't expected to make the ball stick and create chances for his partner, Heskey is doing the Donkey work for him now, meaning he is free to make more of an impact on the game.

For me Owen will always be the more natural goalscorer, but Rooney is a better all round player.
Concentrating on finding a partner that compliments Rooney rather than Owen was probably the right decision, as Rooney is a player with a lot of years (possibly) ahead of him for england.
