The problem with that

is that there tends to be a long-term relationship. There's no suggestion that Carroll has ever been implicated in anything like this before, or Marshall - and I'm certain he has always done everything he can to win matches for NCFC.
Also the amount staked on cricket must be hugely more than a run of the mill second division game - making it much easier to make a killing without it being noticed.
