The unnamed source.

Here we have one:

"There are also suggestions the value of City's fixed assets is less than the overall debt, raising the question of whether the club could technically be insolvent."

So who made these suggestions then? Some shadowy anonymous "expert" on City's finances? Or Steve Downes padding out his story? All we can really be sure of is that actually they weren't "suggestions" - they were lies.

And here we have another:

"An expert, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said he had "not seen anything like this in 10 years of working in the industry" and expressed concern for "the integrity of the English game". "

Well - your starter for ten is to work out why such an anodyne statement requires anonymity. And what do we know of this "expert". Not much - except that since he has "not seen anything like this" he's not in any sort of position to judge what might have caused it.

My advice to the Telegraph? Stick to stories about Keira Knightly and stop trying to f**k up two football teams.
