I don't think there's such a strong argument for secrecy

(particularly when, as you say, there were loads of rumours it was our game anyway.)

And it'll all be forgotten pretty quickly, assuming no evidence is ever found, which is probably what'll happen.

In the end though, you have to investigate these things, and it's best to be open about it all.
