Carroll's way of trying to ensure that this happens is to do everything possible to prevent Lita scoring an open goal which Carroll wouldn't get the blame for and therefore avoid bring any suspicion on himself

that bit still doesn't make sense to me.

perhaps the Derby defender that f**ked up in the build up to the sending off allowing Lita in for that chance has more to do with it than Carroll ever did?
