Personally yes I do think there might be something in this. Football bets are not always about the result of the match you know. These days you can bet on anything and everything including the timing of goals, a side scoring in the next 5-10 m inutes etc.

The money could very easily have been bet on who scored the next goal or the timing of the next goal or something.
