i think the role and influence of a captain is very much over-rated

a good player doesn't need an armband to motivate a team, likewise a good player doesn't need to see an armband to listen to a team-mate

i suppose there might be more to it that we don't see, arranging some 'team-building' s**t on their days off or summat
