Trying to sum up my utter apathy

Again, it comes to mid October and we are at the bottom of the championship. This is the third year running it has been like this. The other two years we sacked our manager when it became apparent that a relegation struggle beckoned, but this time we won't, and we must not.

It isn't the managers but Norwich City itself that breeds this complete and utter lack of direction? Sorry, there is direction, it is downward. There is no famous five year plan anymore is there, just a hand-to-mouth season to season existance.

I have been once this season. Simply, I cannot be arsed. I understood the need for loan players but nine? And that's on the back of a dozen last season. There is no-one to love anymore, is there, just the knowledge that going to a game might see a young Premiership player toughened up for his future career away from Carrow Road. When we did this loan thing in the past (ie Huckerby) there was the real sense that we might actually be trying them out, getting them here, and then persuading them to stay. Now, unless we somehow went up (ha!) that is never ever going to happen.

So I guess what I'm saying is that it's not about Norwich City the club anymore, it's about a collection of individuals. Who I don't care about, and who at the end of the day are not leaders on the pitch. What makes it all the more disheartening is that the one player I thought might be quite good and is ours (Hoolahan) has been completely underwhelming when that should not have been the case.

I don't buy this 'Huckerby should have stayed' business because at the end of the day we were crap for the last two seasons with him in the side. But at least you knew you had a player there who looked like he felt the same way about Norwich as we might when we go to a game.

Roeder has his hands tied - he wants quality, he can't afford it, he's finding a way to get quality. But if the worst does happen and we do go down, we'll be doomed - not least because we won't be able to afford players of our own in that division either.

End of depression, I feel better now
